Duke basketball has suffered another injury setback, with junior guard Tyrese Proctor joining the team’s growing list of sidelined players.
Proctor, a three-year starter under head coach Jon Scheyer, suffered a left knee injury while backpedaling in transition during No. 2 Duke’s dominant win over Miami on Tuesday night. He was ruled out for the remainder of the game, finishing with seven points, two rebounds, two assists, and two steals. In the process, he became the 70th player in program history to surpass 1,000 career points, now sitting at 1,004.
After the game, Scheyer stated that Proctor will undergo imaging to determine the extent of the injury. The guard was seen on crutches while leaving the arena with his teammates.
Duke’s 97-60 victory over the Hurricanes extended its winning streak to five games. However, the team is already dealing with the absence of junior forward Maliq Brown, who dislocated his left shoulder in last week’s win over Virginia and is expected to miss at least a few more games.
Proctor had been in excellent form leading up to Tuesday’s game, averaging career highs of 12.0 points and 3.2 rebounds while shooting a personal-best 40.9% from three-point range. This season, he had not missed a single game before the injury.
Duke will look to continue its strong run when it hosts Florida State (16-12, 7-10 ACC) on Saturday at 7 p.m. ET, with the game airing on ACC Network.
