Breaking: John Schneider Officially Announced Seahawks Set To Cut Ties With Another Top Veteran Today

Seahawks GM John Schneider Uncertain About  Future in 2025

Tyler Lockett has been a fan favorite in Seattle ever since he made an electrifying debut with a punt return touchdown in his first NFL game. However, with the Seahawks facing salary cap challenges, his time with the team may be coming to an end.

At the 2025 NFL Combine in Indianapolis, Seahawks general manager John Schneider was asked about Lockett’s future and gave an uncertain response. The veteran wide receiver is set to carry a massive $30.895 million cap hit next season, making him a likely candidate for a cap-related move, especially after his least productive season and the rise of second-year wideout Jaxon Smith-Njigba.

Given Seattle’s need to create financial flexibility, parting ways with Lockett via trade or release would free up $17 million in cap space. With these financial constraints in mind, it’s understandable why Schneider remains non-committal on whether Lockett will remain with the Seahawks in 2025.
