Brewers Sign Veteran  to Minor League Deal with Spring Training Invite

The Milwaukee Brewers have signed veteran outfielder Mark Canha to a minor league contract, which includes an invitation to major league spring training, the team announced Monday.

This move is part of the two-time defending NL Central champions’ efforts to add depth after outfielder Blake Perkins suffered a fractured right shin during batting practice. The injury is expected to keep Perkins sidelined for at least the first month of the season. Milwaukee had already signed Manuel Margot to a minor league deal with a spring training invite to address their outfield depth.

Canha, 36, previously played for the Brewers after being acquired at the 2023 trade deadline. In 50 games with Milwaukee, he posted a .287 batting average, a .373 on-base percentage, five home runs, 33 RBIs, and four stolen bases.

During the 2024 season, Canha split time between the Detroit Tigers and San Francisco Giants, appearing in 125 games and batting .242 with a .344 on-base percentage, seven homers, 42 RBIs, and seven steals.

Over his 10-year MLB career, Canha has played for the Oakland Athletics (2015-21), New York Mets (2022-23), Brewers, Tigers, and Giants. He holds a career batting average of .249 with a .349 on-base percentage, 120 home runs, and 459 RBIs across 1,049 games.
