Seahawks Release Two Players from Practice Squad
The Seattle Seahawks made roster adjustments on Friday, parting ways with two practice squad players. Cornerback Ryan Cooper and wide receiver Cornell Powell were both waived as the team continues to make offseason moves.
Both Cooper and Powell joined Seattle’s practice squad during the 2024 season and later signed reserve/future contracts at the conclusion of the Seahawks’ campaign. However, their time with the team has now come to an end.
Powell, originally a fifth-round pick by the Kansas City Chiefs in the 2021 NFL Draft, had spent time developing in practice squads before landing with Seattle. Despite his potential, he never carved out a consistent role on an active roster.
Meanwhile, Cooper entered the league as an undrafted rookie from Oregon State. He initially signed with the Baltimore Ravens after the draft but was waived before the start of the 2024 season. The Ravens then brought him back to their practice squad before he eventually found his way to Seattle.
These roster moves indicate that the Seahawks are continuing to evaluate their depth and make adjustments as they prepare for the upcoming season.
