Cardinals Hire Minnesota’s Winston DeLattiboudere III as Defensive Line Coach
The Arizona Cardinals continue to pull coaching talent from the college ranks, bringing in Winston DeLattiboudere III from the University of Minnesota to serve as their new defensive line coach. This move follows their recent hiring of Ohio State’s Justin Frye as the new offensive line coach.
DeLattiboudere has a connection to Cardinals defensive coordinator Nick Rallis, as the two were teammates at Minnesota in 2016.
According to the Minnesota Gophers’ website, DeLattiboudere has been on a rapid ascent in the coaching world. Per Sports Illustrated’s Nolan O’Hara, he initially joined Minnesota’s staff in 2023 as the defensive line coach and newcomer coordinator. After just one season, he was promoted to assistant head coach. Under his leadership, Minnesota’s defense saw an increase in sacks, jumping from 26 in 2022 to 28 in 2023.
A Minnesota alumnus, DeLattiboudere played for the Gophers from 2014 to 2018, spending four seasons under head coach P.J. Fleck. He finished his college career with 83 tackles, including 13.5 for loss, and five sacks.
Before returning to Minnesota as a coach, he worked as a graduate assistant at Charlotte in 2020 and Oregon in 2021. He later became Akron’s defensive line coach in 2022 before taking on the same role at Minnesota the following year. Now, he makes the leap to the NFL with the Cardinals.
Meanwhile, Minnesota defensive lineman Jah Joyner has seen his draft stock rise following an impressive Senior Bowl performance. Initially projected as a Day 3 pick, he now appears to be a likely Day 2 selection in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Other Gophers prospects to watch include offensive tackle Aireontae Ersery, who stands at 6-foot-5 and 325 pounds.
