The Las Vegas Raiders have made another move to add depth to their wide receiver group, signing Alex Bachman to a Reserve/Future contract. The deal ensures that Bachman will be part of the team’s roster during the offseason, giving him a chance to compete for a spot heading into the 2025 season.
Bachman, a 6-foot, 190-pound wide receiver, originally entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent out of Wake Forest in 2019. He initially signed with the Los Angeles Rams but spent much of his early career on practice squads. He later joined the New York Giants, where he had opportunities to showcase his abilities, particularly during the preseason. While he hasn’t had extensive regular-season playing time, Bachman has consistently demonstrated strong route-running, quickness, and work ethic—traits that have kept him on NFL radars.
During the 2022 preseason with the Giants, Bachman made headlines with an impressive performance in a game against the Cincinnati Bengals, where he recorded 11 receptions for 122 yards and two touchdowns. That outing highlighted his ability to contribute when given opportunities, but he still found himself bouncing between practice squads and free agency. He spent time with the Houston Texans as well but was unable to secure a long-term role.
Now with the Raiders, Bachman will have another opportunity to earn a place on an NFL roster. Reserve/Future contracts are typically given to players who are not currently on active rosters but who teams want to keep around for offseason programs and training camp. This allows Bachman to work with the Raiders’ coaching staff and compete for a spot when rosters expand during the summer.
The Raiders are looking to build depth at the receiver position, with key players like Davante Adams and Jakobi Meyers leading the group. While Bachman may face stiff competition, his experience and persistence could help him carve out a role, particularly on special teams or as a depth option in the passing game.
As Las Vegas continues to shape its roster, Bachman’s signing represents a low-risk move that could pay off if he can translate his preseason flashes into consistent production. The offseason will be crucial for him as he works to prove himself and earn a spot on the final 53-man roster.
