Sad News: Indiana fever Officially Part Ways With Another Top Veteran Fans Favorite Superstar After Rejecting New Contract

The Indiana Fever have officially waived guard Grace Berger, expressing gratitude for her time with the team. Berger, the seventh overall pick in the 2023 WNBA Draft, played 48 games across two seasons but struggled to secure a consistent role, particularly following the addition of Caitlin Clark. As a rookie, she averaged 4.2 points and 1.9 assists in 14.6 minutes per game. However, her playing time dropped to just 9.3 minutes per game in 2024, and she appeared in only 11 games that season.

Berger was a standout at Indiana University, finishing as the program’s all-time winningest player and contributing to a Big Ten Championship and an Elite Eight run. She ranks seventh in career scoring and second in assists for the Hoosiers. In her rookie WNBA season, she showed promise, scoring in double figures seven times in 26 appearances while maintaining an assist-to-turnover ratio near 2:1. She also shot an impressive 47% from three-point range and 84% from the free-throw line.

Currently, Berger is playing overseas with Turkish club Omanspor, where she has thrived, averaging 13.3 points and 3.9 assists in 35.5 minutes per game. With WNBA free agency ongoing, teams such as the Chicago Sky or the Golden State Valkyries could be potential landing spots for the versatile guard. Known for her ability to create shots, facilitate plays, and contribute to winning, Berger could provide valuable depth to a team in need of a reliable backcourt presence.
