Calls Grow for to Join Caitlin Clark and Indiana Fever After Sky Fallout
Indiana Fever fans are eager for their team to make bold moves in free agency to enhance their competitiveness in 2025. After reaching the playoffs in Caitlin Clark’s impressive rookie season, the Fever finished the regular season with a 20-20 record. While offense wasn’t a concern—the team ranked third in the WNBA with an average of 86.6 points per game—fans believe adding more star power could take them to the next level.
The Chicago Sky’s leading scorer in 2024, Chennedy Carter, has emerged as a fan favorite to join the Fever. The No. 4 overall pick in the 2020 WNBA Draft, Carter averaged 17.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 1.1 steals last season. Despite her on-court talent, Carter became a free agent after the Sky declined to extend her qualifying offer amid reports of locker room tensions. Head coach Teresa Weatherspoon reportedly chose not to address the issues, leading to speculation about Carter’s future.
Fans have taken to social media to campaign for Carter’s arrival in Indiana, envisioning her as a transformative addition alongside Clark.
“Chennedy Carter! Come to Indiana! You and the Fever would be unstoppable. Wherever you land, I wish you the best!” one fan wrote.
“Chennedy Carter would be great on the Fever,” another posted, while others suggested the team pursue Carter and Satou Sabally to strengthen the roster.
Carter’s journey has been tumultuous. A Fort Worth, Texas, native and former Texas A&M standout, she was drafted by the Atlanta Dream in 2020 but faced a suspension in 2021 for conduct detrimental to the team. After being traded to the Los Angeles Sparks in 2022, Carter sat out the 2023 WNBA season before revitalizing her career with Chicago.
As discussions heat up, fans argue that Indiana could offer Carter a fresh start and a chance to contribute to a promising team. Whether the Fever pursue her remains to be seen, but Carter’s undeniable talent continues to spark interest among WNBA followers.
