Good News: South Carolina Gamecocks Lands 5-Star Quarterback To Active 2025 Roster

South Carolina football has secured a major addition from the transfer portal, landing quarterback , a highly touted four-star prospect from the class of 2024. Noland, one of the top transfer quarterbacks available this cycle, decided to join the Gamecocks after entering the portal following his freshman season with Ohio State. His commitment was announced by On3’s Hayes Fawcett on social media after Noland’s visit to Columbia.

Though current South Carolina starting quarterback LaNorris Sellers will only be a redshirt sophomore in 2025, he is eligible for the 2026 NFL Draft and could leave after the season. If Sellers declares for the draft, Noland is expected to compete with young quarterbacks Dante Reno and Cutter Woods for the starting job.

Noland brings impressive talent and potential to the Gamecocks. A left-handed quarterback, he is known for his accuracy and touch in the passing game. While not a dual-threat like Sellers, Noland is an athletic player who can effectively throw deep. Despite lacking elite arm strength, his passes are sharp and precise. He ranked No. 59 overall in the On3 industry rankings, was the No. 9 player in Georgia, and the No. 5 quarterback nationally in his class.

Hailing from Langston Hughes High School in Georgia, the 6’2″, 195-pound signal-caller posted incredible stats during his prep career. As a junior in 2022, he threw for over 4,000 yards and accounted for 60 total touchdowns. His move to South Carolina brings him closer to home and adds depth to the Gamecocks’ quarterback room.

South Carolina’s scholarship quarterback count now stands at four for next season. With Sellers being the only one with significant playing experience, Noland’s addition addresses a critical need after the departures of sixth-year senior Davis Beville and fifth-year Robby Ashford.

Noland joins an impressive transfer class for head coach Shane Beamer, including EDGE Jaylen Brown, offensive lineman Nick Sharpe, tight end Jordan Dingle, defensive tackle Gabriel Brownlow-Dindy, and linebacker Shawn Murphy. All five transfers are expected to compete for roles in the two-deep rotation this offseason.

As a redshirt freshman with four years of eligibility, Noland’s arrival gives South Carolina a promising option for the future at quarterback.
