Justin Jefferson, an All-Pro wide receiver, recently made headlines when he signed a four-year, $140 million contract with the Minnesota Vikings.
Of that, $110 million is guaranteed.
This transaction could start a domino effect that results in other elite receivers landing big contracts.
Recently, ESPN’s Bill Barnwell identified five wide receivers who could eventually outperform Jefferson on contract.
But now that Jefferson has reset the market, it’s likely that the Cowboys will have to pay Lamb even more than the Vikings to complete Lamb’s deal.In the future, Garrett Wilson, Chris Olave, Nacua, and Chase will all experience the same thing, according to Barnwell.
With their next contract, wide receivers hoping to surpass Jefferson’s $35 million annual average should hope to do so.
Without a doubt, the listed receivers are all deserving of large sums of money.
Lamb is among the best wide receivers in the league, even though Jefferson is undoubtedly the best.
Last season, he had the most receptions (135) in the league.
For the Cincinnati Bengals, Ja’Marr Chase has made three straight trips to the Pro Bowl.
Garrett Wilson, a wide receiver who has caught 1,000 yards twice, will likely receive a nice salary from Aaron Rodgers when he plays in New York.
Like Wilson, Chris Olave, a wide receiver for the Saints, has 1,000 yards in back-to-back seasons and is about to receive a big contract.
Later on, Puka Nacua, the record-holding wide receiver for the Rams and All-Pro, will also receive a sizable salary.
If their output keeps up, all five of these receivers may very well receive sizable compensation.
