Following the team’s fifth consecutive loss in a 41-24 road loss to the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday, head coach Antonio Pierce of the Las Vegas Raiders provided some insight on Monday on the dismissal of offensive coordinator Luke Getsy.

Pierce told reporters that Getsy’s departure, along with that of quarterbacks coach Rich Scangarello and offensive line coach James Cregg, was “100 percent my decision.”
“Performance results and production just wasn’t headed in the direction I wanted it to go,” Pierce stated.
Pierce stated that he will confer with his staff over the course of the next “24 to 48 hours” in order to decide on the Raiders’ next offensive play caller.
Pierce stated that he will “look at everything” during the team’s Week 10 bye when asked if Desmond Ridder, the recently acquired veteran who took Gardner Minshew’s place after he struggled on Sunday, will start at quarterback.
Pierce stated that he will keep putting running the ball first and that it is critical to “find an identity” on offense. With running backs Alexander Mattison and Zamir White, Getsy’s zone strategy resulted in an NFL-worst 3.5 yards per carry. White had two 100-yard performances in his final three games in 2023, but he has since regressed this season.
“Some of it is shocking,” Pierce said. “Because we felt great about this group and our team when we left training camp.
“Obviously, we had injuries, but it isn’t an excuse because all of the league’s teams are also struggling with that. But offensively, I believe that it simply wasn’t going my way and didn’t look the way I wanted it to.”
