After ruthlessly firing Christie Sides last weekend, the Indiana Fever are apparently in negotiations with Stephanie White. Despite being guided to the WNBA playoffs the previous season, Caitlin Clark will soon have a new coach.
Despite leading the Fever to a significant improvement in their play in the second half of the season, Sides was sacked on Sunday. The squad had a 1–8 record at the beginning of the season, but they changed their strategy and ended up in the playoffs.
In the second playoff game, the Connecticut Sun defeated the Fever. However, it was generally seen as a good year, and Clark was chosen as the Rookie of the Year.
Following the confirmation of her firing, Sides wrote on X, “Leave it better than you found it.” Her assessment is widely accepted.
The Chicago Sun Times reports that the Fever are now in negotiations with White, the former Sun head coach, to take over as Clark’s new manager. The 47-year-old has lauded Clark in the past, but if the Fever want to hire the former star, they must move fast.
This is because, according to the source, White has also started talking to Chicago Sky about assuming their open post. On Monday, Sun acknowledged that they had “parted ways” with White, allowing her to discuss her future course of action.
White, who was a member of Fever from 2000 to 2004, will be tasked with leading a skilled team if she is hired. Despite having players like Clark, Sides came under fire for failing to maximize the team’s performance.

The reversal in the second part of the previous season was largely attributed to the 22-year-old sensation. Her averages were 19.2 points, 8.4 assists, and 5.2 rebounds. Additionally, the rookie attempted three-pointers 122 times, the most in the WNBA.
Clark had a difficult beginning to life in the WNBA after breaking several records in the NCAA. White, who was Sun’s head coach at the time, jumped to her defense and insisted that everything would be well. Her statement proved to be accurate.
“I’m examining everything that these individuals are discussing with Caitlin Clark. I’m telling the guys to relax. “She will be alright,” White remarked. “Are you serious? We’ve already played two games. She is learning the game. Every year [in college], she improved… It requires time.
