Caitlin Clark, a great player for the Indiana Fever, is having an incredible rookie season and has broken yet another league record.
Clark, 22, formally set a new WNBA rookie assist record on Sunday, August 18, during a 92-75 victory over the Seattle Storm, according to the New York Times.
The source states that Clark surpassed Ticha Penicheiro’s record, which she set in 1998 with the Sacramento Monarchs when she recorded 225 assists in 30 games. The Fever star accomplished this achievement two games less in her 28th game of the season.

Penicheiro praised Clark for shattering her record in a post on X (formerly Twitter), writing: “Records are made to be broken.It demonstrates development and evolution. There’s no better player to shatter it than this one!
In July, Clark broke Courtney Vandersloot’s previous league mark of 18 assists in a single game, which was set in 2020.
The basketball player finished with 24 points in the Dallas Wings’ 101-93 defeat.
Making WNBA history once more, Caitlin Clark dishes out 19 assists in a single game.
At a news conference following the game, Clark stated, “I mean, I just try to set my teammates up for success,” according to ClutchPoints. “I think I can almost over-pass at times, and there probably could have been a few times when I could have shot the ball instead of passing and making a turnover.”
The Iowa product’s most recent achievement raises more questions about her chances of taking home the Rookie of the Year award. Clark has contributed to 41.8%, or 849, of the Fever’s points this season going into the contest.
