Team USA dominated Puerto Rico 104-83, with Miami Heat star Bam Adebayo taking a backseat following a huge 18-point outing against South Sudan. Despite just scoring three points in the end, Adebayo made a defensive contribution with two steals and five rebounds.
Puerto Rico got off to a fast start and was ahead after the first quarter. The ability of Team USA to exploit their opponent’s defense proved to be the difference in this game. In the second quarter, LeBron James got the club going by finding outside shooters and then feeding inside scorers. James was a team-high plus-18 and finished with eight assists.
In the second half, Anthony Edwards went on a rampage, making multiple long shots and finishing with elegance. In addition to two steals, he finished with a game-high 26 points.
Team USA’s attack in this game did not require much from Bam because Edwards and James were leading the charge. In the few minutes he played, he still had a beneficial effect and it was enough to win the game.
For the remainder of his stay in Paris, things will continue to be like that. There is a lot of skill on Team USA. They might provide a big night to a different player each game. That ought to be sufficient as long as Bam at least performs his duties on the defensive end. Puerto Rico was the target of that lawsuit.
Team USA’s victory over Puerto Rico guaranteed them the top seed in the quarterfinals. Team USA will try to maintain their current winning streak against their next opponent. They have demolished their opponents thus far.
