In the 2022 NFL Draft, the Houston Texans selected Kenyon Green in the first round, 15th overall, to give stability to the left guard position, which saw six different starters in the three seasons prior to 2022. Additionally, they selected Green in the draft so Tytus Howard could remain in his natural position at right tackle rather than line up at left guard.

Green assumed the starting left guard position in Week 2 as a result of McCray’s poor performance in Week 1, and he started 14 of their next 16 games. Regretfully, he did not perform well in 2022, giving up 12 hits, four sacks allowed, 31 hurries, 47 pressures, 12 penalties, and a 37.7 PFF grade.
After the season, Green had arthroscopic knee surgery. He missed the required minicamp and OTAs but made a comeback for Day 2 of training camp. Sadly, during their preseason finale, he tore his labrum in his left shoulder,

which ended his season.
