Even though NBA Summer League is now underway, Dallas Mavericks supporters appear to be anticipating the start of the regular season in October. The Mavs’ successful offseason thus far is a major factor in why this one will probably be crucial to them moving forward and becoming title contenders once more.
Quentin Grimes, who is anticipated to be a defensive threat for the Mavs next season, was the first player Dallas traded for, but their most significant move was the sign-and-trade of Klay Thompson.
During the NBA Playoffs, the Mavs finally acquired the third scorer they sorely needed, and Thompson is eager to get to work.
In response to claims that Klay Thompson has been “washed,” Jordan Walker stands up for him.
The Mavericks added a terrific shooter who is eager to be a Maverick and satisfied their need for additional shooting with this trade for Thompson. Although the Mavs’ acquisition of Thompson has received overwhelmingly positive feedback from their supporters, skeptics are undoubtedly beginning to surface.
After a video of Thompson playing pickup basketball surfaced over the weekend, some individuals decided to compile a list of some of his worst moments and share it online. Thompson’s lackluster performance was quickly criticized by the crowd, but those who had their doubts would soon have to take a hit.
Thompson is among the all-time best shooters, so a single pickup game is meaningless.
Jordan “Jelly” Walker was one former Maverick who saw these remarks made about Thompson and defended him. Walker refused to let these claims that he washed up to go any farther while he was a member of the Mavericks during the preseason and Summer League of the previous year.
Walker was correct when he said that Thompson was fouled most of the time by the defender in the video. Walker pointed out that the defender was dribbling up the floor when he had both of his hands on Thompson, which is certainly a foul.
When it comes to Thompson’s play during these stretches, Mavs supporters have nothing to be concerned about; he will be OK. He will perform at his peak when he plays alongside Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic, since the starting small forward has already been set.
The Mavs will advance to a higher level next season because to Thompson’s shooting, and he will have a significant impact both on and off the court. During their inaugural press conference, Michael Finley praised the character of each of the new squad members, with Thompson quickly becoming as a fan favorite.
