In 2023, the Dallas Mavericks completed a bold transaction when they acquired Kyrie Irving from the Brooklyn Nets for Dorian Finney-Smith, Spencer Dinwiddie, and a portion of future draft picks during the trade deadline. Irving and Luka Doncic put together an unexpected run to the NBA Finals in the 2023–24 season, despite the fact that they missed the playoffs that year.

“Kyrie is the most skilled player I’ve ever seen, as far as just pure skill,” Williams stated. “On the offensive end, he is capable of everything. He has magical skills with the basketball.
A fantastic player in his own right, Deron Williams was a member of two All-NBA teams and three consecutive All-Star games from 2010 to 2012. His output began to decline after injuries caught up to him during his first full season with the Brooklyn Nets in 2012–13. After the Nets waived him in 2015, the Dallas Mavericks, who played in his hometown, acquired him. With the Mavs, he averaged 13.7 points per game in 105 games. Williams attended secondary school in The Colony, Texas, a little town north of Dallas.
