Over the past few weeks, the Texas Longhorns have gained ground in the recruiting process, having already secured 10 pledges since the beginning of April alone.
However, the loss of five-star receiver Dakorien Moore on Thursday put an end to that momentum.
And then, on Friday, they lost badly again when Brandon Brown, a four-star defensive lineman from Eau Gallie (Melbourne, FL), switched his pledge to the LSU Tigers.
Brown, who stands 6-foot-2 and weighs 286 pounds, was initially the third Longhorns pledge of the 2025 class, behind tight end Emaree Winston and quarterback KJ Lacey.
He is now on his way to Baton Rouge, where he will be trained by Bo Davis, the former defensive line coach at Texas who transferred to LSU this offseason.

Eau Gallie’s Brandon Brown intercepts a ball from Merritt Island quarterback Shaun Hartman on Friday, November 10, 2023, during their regional quarterfinal. Through the USA TODAY NETWORK, Craig Bailey and Florida Today are together as USA TODAY.
The departure hurts even more for the Horns because Brown, who had committed to the team since December, is viewed as an interior defensive line prospect.
After attracting just two defensive lineman commits in the 2024 cycle, the Horns now have exactly zero for the 2025 class without Brown. Several players in this class have also fallen short of their expectations, such as four-star Josiah Sharma of California, who committed to Oregon, and four-star Zion Williams of Lufkin, who signed to LSU.
According to the On3 industry ranking, Brown is presently ranked as the No. 331 player in the nation, the No. 27 defensive lineman in the nation, and the No. 46 player in Florida.
