Official Saints News: Kellen Moore Officially Annoounced The Signing Of Top Experienced Superstar Who Rejected 49ers , Kansas City Chief And Eagles

Saints Ink Former 49ers Cornerback to Three-Year Contract

Another experienced cornerback is on the move, as the San Francisco 49ers have lost another veteran from their secondary.

Isaac Yiadom has secured a three-year contract with the New Orleans Saints, according to his agency. Yiadom previously played for the Saints in 2022 and 2023 before joining the 49ers on a one-year deal in 2024.

San Francisco signed Yiadom when their coaching staff included defensive coordinator Nick Sorensen and assistant head coach Brandon Staley. However, with both now replaced by Robert Saleh and Gus Bradley, Yiadom no longer had connections to the new regime.

During his lone season with the 49ers, Yiadom was on the field for 46 percent of the defensive snaps, recording six pass breakups, one interception, and allowing two touchdown receptions. When targeted, he gave up a passer rating of 88.7.

Initially the team’s third cornerback, Yiadom was eventually overtaken by rookie Renardo Green, who is set to start in 2025. However, injuries to Charvarius Ward allowed Yiadom to return to action in multiple games.

While Yiadom was solid in run defense and not a major liability in coverage, the 29-year-old did not fit into the 49ers’ plans as they undergo some roster changes. A multi-year deal for him wouldn’t have aligned with their strategy.

Instead, San Francisco opted to sign former Seahawks cornerback Tre Brown, who was developed under Pete Carroll. Given Carroll’s influence on both Saleh and Bradley, Brown appears to be a better fit for the 49ers’ revamped defense.
