Saints Bring Back WR on One-Year Deal
A smart depth move for New Orleans.
Last offseason, the New Orleans Saints had to part ways with several players due to salary cap constraints. However, with more financial flexibility this year, the team is making an effort to retain key depth pieces. According to Ari Meirov, the Saints have re-signed wide receiver Dante Pettis to a one-year contract.
While Pettis may not be the most high-profile signing of the offseason, his return is a solid move for the team.
Last season, injuries decimated the Saints’ receiving corps, forcing Pettis into a more prominent role. He stepped up when needed, making key plays while others struggled.
With the Saints’ top two receivers coming off injury-plagued seasons, having a reliable depth option like Pettis is important. Even if he doesn’t see significant snaps on offense, he can still contribute on special teams, adding further value to the roster.
