Vikings Set to Add New Offensive Weapon Following NFL Draft: Report

The 2025 NFL Draft proved to be a quieter one for the Georgia Bulldogs compared to previous years. Although the program still sent several players to the next level, it marked the first time since 2018 that no Georgia tight end heard their name called during the draft. However, that didn’t stop Ben Yurosek from finding a path to the NFL.

Soon after the draft concluded, the Minnesota Vikings acted quickly, agreeing to terms with Yurosek on an undrafted free agent contract. The former Bulldog, who originally hails from Bakersfield, California, has an interesting collegiate journey that took him through two major football programs.

Yurosek began his college career at Stanford, where he emerged as a promising talent. Rated as a three-star recruit coming out of high school, he made a name for himself during a breakout 2021 season. That year, he tallied an impressive 42 receptions for 653 yards and three touchdowns, drawing plenty of attention for his ability to make plays down the field. He continued his strong performance into the following season, but unfortunately, injuries hampered his 2023 campaign, limiting him to just six appearances.

Looking for a fresh start, Yurosek entered the transfer portal and made the move to Georgia to finish his college career. Although he had to split playing time with fellow tight ends Oscar Delp and Lawson Luckie, he still managed to contribute. In the 2024 season, Yurosek caught 15 passes for 185 yards over 14 games, according to ESPN.

Despite not putting up massive numbers at Georgia, Yurosek’s blend of athleticism, toughness, and football intelligence stood out to coaches and scouts. His performance earned consistent praise from Georgia’s tight ends coach, Todd Hartley, who often complimented Yurosek’s physical playing style and ability to adapt to new systems quickly.

Now, Yurosek will look to take advantage of his opportunity with the Minnesota Vikings. Minnesota has been looking to bolster its offense with more depth at the tight end position, especially after dealing with injuries and roster changes over the past season. Yurosek’s skill set — particularly his reliable hands and ability to find open space — could give him a real shot to make an impact.

While undrafted free agents face long odds in securing roster spots, Yurosek has the tools to compete at the next level. His past success at Stanford, resilience through injuries, and the ability to adjust to a different environment at Georgia speak volumes about his work ethic and determination.

As the Vikings prepare for rookie minicamp and summer workouts, all eyes will be on how Yurosek transitions to the professional game. For a player who has consistently fought to prove himself, joining Minnesota could be the perfect next chapter in his football journey.
