It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Patricia Marie Gasso, an iconic figure in the world of softball, who died at the age of 62. Known widely as Patty Gasso, she was the head coach of the Oklahoma Sooners softball team and a respected leader in the United States women’s national softball community.
Gasso’s legacy is etched deeply in the sport. Under her guidance, the Oklahoma Sooners flourished into one of the most dominant programs in college softball history. Since taking over the Sooners in 1995, she led the team to numerous Women’s College World Series appearances and multiple national championships, earning admiration and respect across the collegiate sports landscape.
