Breaking: Virginia Tech Hokies Wins Another Commitement Of Highly Rated LB

Virginia Tech Football Lands First In-State Commit for 2026 Class

The Virginia Tech Hokies are beginning to build momentum on the recruiting trail for the 2026 football class. Following their annual spring game this past Saturday, the program has picked up a pair of commitments, including its first in-state pledge.

On Monday, Brent Pry and the Hokies landed a commitment from Joshua Pittman, an EDGE/linebacker from Kings Fork High School in Suffolk, Virginia. The 6-foot-3, 210-pound defender becomes the third overall commitment and the first in-state addition for the Hokies in the 2026 class.

Pittman is a three-star recruit with a growing list of offers. He chose Virginia Tech over other schools such as Pittsburgh, Michigan State, Indiana, West Virginia, and more. The Hokies initially extended him an offer last year, and he recently returned to campus during the spring, taking in the environment and meeting with coaches. He is also expected to make an official visit later this spring.

The commitment highlights head coach Brent Pry’s continued emphasis on bringing top talent from within Virginia back to Blacksburg. Pittman fits the mold of the type of athletic, long, and versatile edge rushers the Hokies have been targeting under Pry’s leadership. While he may currently be a bit light for his position, his frame suggests he could easily add 30 pounds of muscle at the college level, giving the Hokies flexibility in how they’ll use him down the line.

Pittman’s recruitment was led by linebackers coach Xavier Adibi, a former standout for the Hokies who, like Pittman, hailed from Virginia’s 757 region. Adibi knows firsthand what it takes to succeed at Virginia Tech and has become an important figure in building relationships with promising local players.

Pittman becomes the third member of Virginia Tech’s 2026 class, joining kicker John Love, who committed one day earlier, and four-star wide receiver Carnell Warren from Bluffton, South Carolina. His commitment signals a continued effort to recruit strong talent both within the state and beyond, as Pry works to reshape the Hokies’ future roster.

With the spring recruiting season in full swing and the coaching staff actively hosting players on campus, Virginia Tech is expected to add more names to its 2026 class in the coming weeks. Pittman’s early pledge gives the Hokies a solid foundation in the front seven on defense and continues their focus on high-upside athletes who can develop into key contributors in the years to come.

Welcome to Hokie Nation, Joshua Pittman.
