Former Broncos QB Case Keenum Signs With Chicago Bears
After spending the 2024 season with the Houston Texans, veteran quarterback has landed with a new team. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Keenum has signed a one-year contract with the Chicago Bears worth up to $3 million. He’s expected to serve as a mentor to rookie quarterback Caleb Williams, similar to the guidance he provided to C.J. Stroud in Houston.
Keenum, now entering his 12th NFL season, brings a wealth of experience to Chicago’s quarterback group. Though he went undrafted in 2012, he’s carved out a respected career, especially in a mentoring role. He initially joined the Houston Texans as a free agent and spent two seasons there before beginning a journeyman stretch that included stints with the Rams, Vikings, Broncos, Commanders, Browns, and Bills, before returning to Houston last year.
Over his career, Keenum has started 66 games, with 47 of those starts occurring between 2016 and 2019. His standout season came in 2017 with the Minnesota Vikings, when he threw for 3,547 yards, 22 touchdowns, and only seven interceptions. That success earned him a two-year, $36 million deal from the Denver Broncos. In his only season with Denver, he posted 3,890 passing yards, 18 touchdowns, and 15 interceptions.
In 2024, Keenum played a limited role behind C.J. Stroud, appearing in just two games. He completed 34 of 53 passes for 291 yards, with one touchdown and three interceptions. Now, Keenum will take on a similar role in Chicago, offering guidance and support to Caleb Williams, the top overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. His presence is expected to be a steadying force in the Bears’ quarterback room.
