Breaking: Seattle Seahawks Officially Announced Signing Of Top Veteran LB And Waive DL

Seahawks Add Linebacker Easton Gibbs, Waive Defensive Lineman Nathan Pickering

The Seattle Seahawks made roster adjustments on Wednesday morning ahead of their joint practices with the Tennessee Titans. The team re-signed undrafted linebacker Easton Gibbs, bringing him back to the 90-man roster after initially signing him as an undrafted free agent (UDFA) in May before waiving him later in the offseason.

Gibbs Returns to Seattle

Gibbs, who played his college football at Wyoming, was a standout defender during his collegiate career. As a highly experienced player, he started 39 games for the Cowboys, demonstrating his ability as a consistent playmaker.

Over his time at Wyoming, he accumulated 362 total tackles and earned First-Team All-Mountain West Conference honors in both 2022 and 2023. His return to the Seahawks provides additional depth at the off-ball linebacker position, where he joins Jerome Baker, Tyrel Dodson, Tyrice Knight, and Jon Rhattigan.

The timing of Gibbs’ signing is significant, as the Seahawks are currently dealing with injuries at the linebacker position. Both Baker and Rhattigan are sidelined from practice due to injuries, making Gibbs a valuable addition to reinforce the depth chart during training camp and preseason action.

Pickering Waived to Make Roster Space

To make room for Gibbs on the 90-man roster, Seattle waived defensive lineman Nathan Pickering with an injury designation. Pickering initially earned a spot with the Seahawks following an impressive showing at rookie minicamp. The former Mississippi State defensive lineman played both 3-technique and nose tackle positions in college, providing versatility along the defensive front. However, with his injury status, the team opted to move on and create space for Gibbs.

With these roster moves, the Seahawks continue to shape their team heading into the season, ensuring depth at key positions as training camp progresses.
