Five Virginia Tech Players Projected in Latest NFL Mock Draft
With the 2025 NFL Draft in Green Bay less than a month away, several former Virginia Tech players are expected to hear their names called in the later rounds. While some may have the potential to sneak into Day 2, the more likely scenario is that they will be selected on Day 3.
Now that the NFL Combine and Pro Days have concluded, mock drafts are becoming more frequent. The latest projection from the College Football Network has five Hokies being selected between the third and fifth rounds.
Five Hokies Included in Latest Mock Draft
According to this recent mock draft, the first Virginia Tech player expected to be taken is cornerback Dorian Strong. He is projected to go in the third round, 73rd overall, to the New York Jets. This aligns with most draft analysts’ expectations, as Strong has consistently been viewed as a solid mid-round pick.
In the fourth round, two Hokies defensive linemen are projected to go back-to-back. Edge rusher Antwaun Powell-Ryland is expected to be taken 133rd overall by the Kansas City Chiefs, followed immediately by defensive tackle Aeneas Peebles at 134th to the Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles. Both landing spots would provide great opportunities for these players to contribute early in their careers.
The fifth round features two more Virginia Tech standouts. Wide receiver Jaylin Lane is projected to be selected 145th overall, reuniting him with Strong on the Jets. Running back Bhayshul Tuten is expected to go 166th overall to the Houston Texans. However, Tuten’s stock has been on the rise after an impressive set of pre-draft workouts, including a strong performance at the NFL Combine. Some scouts believe he could be taken a round earlier by a team looking for a reliable running back.
As the draft approaches, it will be interesting to see how these projections hold up and whether any of these Virginia Tech prospects move up the board.
