ESPN REPORT: Las Vegas Raiders Officially Announced The Signing Of Impressive Fomer Superbowl MVP

Raiders Add Veteran Linebacker

The Las Vegas Raiders have secured an experienced linebacker to close out the week, signing Devin White to a one-year contract. This move follows the team’s unsuccessful attempt to land another starting-caliber linebacker earlier in the week.

White, originally selected fifth overall in the 2019 NFL Draft by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers—one pick after the Raiders took Clelin Ferrell—reunites with Las Vegas general manager John Spytek, who was in Tampa Bay’s front office at the time. White also won a Super Bowl with the Buccaneers, alongside part-owner Tom Brady.

With the departure of Divine Deablo to the Atlanta Falcons and Robert Spillane signing with the New England Patriots, White has an opportunity to step into a starting role. The Raiders recently signed former Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Elandon Roberts to a one-year deal as well, aiming to reinforce the position.

Las Vegas had attempted to add Christian Elliss from the Patriots with a two-year, $13.5 million restricted free agency offer, but New England matched the deal, keeping Elliss in Foxborough. Despite the signings of Roberts and White, the Raiders are still expected to target linebacker help in the early rounds of the upcoming NFL Draft. Additionally, young players such as Tommy Eichenberg, Amari Burney, and Amari Gainer could compete for roles.

While White had a strong start to his career with Tampa Bay, he has since transitioned into more of a rotational player. In 2024, he spent time with the Houston Texans, appearing in seven games with one start. The previous year, he signed with the Philadelphia Eagles but did not play. Over his career, White has played in 83 regular-season games, making 76 starts.

Now, with another opportunity to work under Spytek, White will attempt to re-establish himself as a key contributor. He joins former Buccaneers guard Alex Cappa as another free-agent signing with Tampa Bay ties, with Cappa expected to start on the offensive line.
