The South Carolina Gamecocks have secured a significant commitment from in-state offensive lineman Zyon Guiles, a four-star prospect from Carvers Bay High School in Hemingway, South Carolina. Guiles announced his decision during a ceremony at his high school, choosing South Carolina over other prominent programs, including Clemson, Georgia, Florida, and Alabama.
Standing at 6-foot-5 and weighing 300 pounds, Guiles is ranked as the No. 13 offensive tackle in the 2026 class and holds the 157th spot nationally. His commitment underscores the Gamecocks’ emphasis on retaining top in-state talent, reflecting head coach Shane Beamer’s strategy to strengthen the team’s roster by focusing on local prospects.
Guiles’ decision to join South Carolina was influenced by the program’s family-oriented atmosphere and the coaching staff’s commitment to player development. He expressed admiration for Coach Beamer’s transformative impact on the program, noting the influx of recruits and the team’s upward trajectory.
The Gamecocks extended an offer to Guiles on June 5, 2024, and have since made him a top priority in their recruiting efforts. The coaching staff’s dedication was evident, with Coach Beamer and offensive line coach Lonnie Teasley visiting Carvers Bay High during the contact period—the first time in over two decades that SEC coaches had visited the school.
Guiles’ commitment marks the sixth for South Carolina in the 2026 recruiting cycle and the second from an offensive lineman, following three-star interior lineman Anthony Baxter from Rock Hill, South Carolina. This addition elevates the Gamecocks’ class to 13th nationally and 7th in the SEC, reflecting a concerted effort to build a competitive team through strategic recruiting.
Guiles’ versatility allows him to play both tackle and interior line positions, providing flexibility to the Gamecocks’ offensive schemes. His commitment not only strengthens South Carolina’s offensive line but also sends a message about the program’s ability to attract and retain top-tier talent within the state.
As the Gamecocks continue to build their 2026 class, Guiles’ commitment stands as a testament to the program’s growing appeal and the effectiveness of its recruiting strategies. Fans and analysts alike will be watching closely to see how this talented offensive lineman contributes to South Carolina’s future success on the field.
