In January 2024, he transferred to Ohio State as a graduate student in search of new challenges. His impact was immediate—Howard completed 73% of his passes, threw for 4,010 yards and 35 touchdowns during the 2024 season. He capped off the year by leading the Buckeyes to a 34-23 win over Notre Dame in the College Football Playoff National Championship, earning Offensive MVP honors.
