
The New York Rangers have officially signed defenseman to a three-year entry-level contract, as announced by President and General Manager Chris Drury. Dorrington will join the Hartford Wolf Pack on an amateur tryout (ATO) for the rest of the season.
The 20-year-old blueliner recently completed his season at Northeastern University (Hockey East), where he registered two goals and 13 assists for 15 points in 37 games, tying for fifth on the team in assists.
Over three seasons at Northeastern, the North Reading, Massachusetts native totaled eight goals and 25 assists for 33 points in 105 games and posted a plus-17 rating.
Standing at 6-foot-2 and 192 pounds, Dorrington appeared in 33 games during the 2023-24 campaign, leading all Northeastern defensemen with six goals. He was also honored as the team’s Unsung Hero. As a freshman, he played in all 35 games and tallied 31 blocked shots, tying for fifth most on the team.
Before his college career, Dorrington played for the Des Moines Buccaneers in the USHL, recording 11 points (3 goals, 8 assists) in 41 games. He was also named a 2022 BioSteel All-American.
Dorrington was originally drafted by the Vancouver Canucks in the sixth round (176th overall) of the 2022 NHL Draft. The Rangers acquired his rights on January 31, 2025.
