Former Notre Dame quarterback Ian Book is now a free agent after his contract with the Philadelphia Eagles expired. Book, who was on the Eagles’ practice squad during their Super Bowl run, was not re-signed by the team, making him eligible to sign elsewhere.
Book initially joined the Eagles in December when injuries sidelined Jalen Hurts and Kenny Pickett. He was briefly promoted to the active roster before being waived and later re-signed to the practice squad.
A fourth-round pick by the New Orleans Saints in the 2021 NFL Draft, Book spent just one season in New Orleans before being released. Since then, he has moved between multiple teams, including the Kansas City Chiefs, New England Patriots, and two separate stints with the Eagles in 2022 and 2024.
During his college career at Notre Dame, Book played from 2016 to 2020, establishing himself as a key player for the Fighting Irish. However, his NFL career has been limited, with just 135 passing yards, two interceptions, and no touchdowns. Now at 26 years old, he will seek a new opportunity as he enters his fifth season in the league.
