As of my current knowledge, there are official announcement reports regarding the construction of a new stadium, tentatively named “Camp Kohl Center,” with a seating capacity of over 100,000 for the Wisconsin Badgers basketball team. The existing Kohl Center, located at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, serves as the home arena for the men’s basketball, women’s basketball, and men’s ice hockey teams. Opened in 1998, the Kohl Center has a seating capacity of 17,287 for basketball games and 15,359 for hockey matches.
The Kohl Center is named after former U.S. Senator and University of Wisconsin alumnus Herb Kohl, who donated $25 million towards its construction. The facility has been a central hub for various events, including sports competitions, concerts, and university ceremonies.
Constructing a stadium with a seating capacity exceeding 100,000 would be unprecedented, as it would more than double the size of the largest existing arenas. Such a project would require extensive planning, resources, and infrastructure to accommodate the massive number of spectators.
Given the lack of official information or credible sources confirming plans for such a development, it is advisable to consult the University of Wisconsin–Madison’s official communications or reputable news outlets for any future announcements regarding new athletic facilities.
