Wisconsin Badgers’ Declares for 2025 NFL Draft, Feels His Potential Wasn’t Fully Utilized
Jack Nelson, a key player for the Wisconsin Badgers, is moving on to the next stage of his career after serving as a starter for four seasons. Despite his dedication, his final year didn’t bring the success he had hoped for, both for the team and personally.
Now preparing for the 2025 NFL Draft, Nelson admits that Wisconsin’s disappointing season still lingers in his mind. Speaking with Dillon Graff of Badgers Notes, he shared his frustration, explaining that his individual performance didn’t meet his expectations.
“I felt like I had a lot more responsibility,” Nelson said. “I don’t believe I played at my highest level last season. I knew I had more to prove and felt a strong obligation to Wisconsin—a place that gave so much to me and my family. I wanted to give everything I had to the program.”
Nelson’s deep connection to the Badgers is understandable, as his family has a long history with the team. His father was a former player, and two of his brothers are still part of the program.
Grateful for His Time at Wisconsin
Although his final season didn’t go as planned, Nelson remains appreciative of his experience at Wisconsin.
“Words can’t fully express how much I love this program, the city of Madison, and the state of Wisconsin,” he said in January when he declared for the NFL Draft. “I’m excited for the future of the Badgers and proud to represent UW as I take this next step.”
As he prepares for the professional level, Nelson emphasizes that Wisconsin football will always be part of him.
“It means everything to continue the tradition of Wisconsin’s offensive line,” he said. “I feel a responsibility to those who came before me, those currently playing, and those who will follow. I’m determined to give my all and put my best foot forward.”
