Good News: Badgers land commitment from 2026 New Zealand guard Jackson Ball

The Wisconsin Badgers strengthened their 2026 recruiting class with a major addition on Monday night, securing a commitment from New Zealand guard .

Ball, who made his announcement on Instagram, becomes the second player in Wisconsin’s 2026 class, joining forward LaTrevion Fenderson. Expressing his excitement, Ball thanked head coach Greg Gard and the Wisconsin coaching staff for the opportunity. He also acknowledged coach Aidan Daly for his support and belief in him since the beginning of his basketball journey.

Standing at 6-foot-5, Ball plays for Hawke’s Bay and has a strong connection to Wisconsin assistant coach Kirk Penney, a key factor in his recruitment. His commitment marks the second time in recent years that the Badgers have landed a player from New Zealand, following 2025 guard Hayden Jones.

Wisconsin has been expanding its international recruiting efforts, particularly with the influence of Penney, and Ball’s commitment reflects the success of that strategy. The Badgers are still working to round out their 2026 class, with prospects like three-star guard De’Zhon Hall remaining on their radar. However, Ball’s addition provides another promising piece to Wisconsin’s future roster.
