Breaking: Abdul Carter Terminates Contract With Penn State Nittany Lions Football Due To

Abdul Carter, the standout defensive end for the Penn State Nittany Lions, has declared for the 2025 NFL Draft, concluding his collegiate career.  This decision follows a stellar 2024 season in which Carter earned unanimous All-American honors and was named the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year.

Carter’s departure from Penn State was anticipated, especially after his significant contributions during the 2024 season, where he recorded 12 sacks and 68 tackles, including 24 for loss. His performance has positioned him as a top prospect for the upcoming NFL Draft, with some analysts projecting him as a potential No. 1 overall pick.

However, Carter’s draft preparation has encountered a challenge due to a shoulder injury sustained during the Fiesta Bowl on December 31, 2024. This injury has led to his decision to forgo on-field workouts at the NFL Scouting Combine.

His agent, Drew Rosenhaus, indicated that Carter is focusing on interviews and medical evaluations during the Combine and aims to participate fully in Penn State’s Pro Day on March 28, 2025.

Despite this setback, Carter remains confident in his abilities and draft prospects. He has publicly stated his belief in being the best player in the country and asserts that the top player should be selected first overall.

Carter’s decision to enter the NFL Draft marks the end of a remarkable tenure at Penn State, where he amassed 23 sacks, placing him fourth on the school’s all-time list. His departure opens a new chapter in his football career as he transitions to the professional level.
