Report: Raiders and Matthew Stafford Agreed On Contract
A recent meeting between Tom Brady and Matthew Stafford appears to have been productive, as the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports that the Raiders and Stafford’s representatives have reached common ground on a potential contract.
While this doesn’t mean a deal has been finalized, it indicates that if the Raiders and Rams can agree on trade terms, Stafford and Las Vegas are likely to settle on a contract. However, negotiations between the two teams remain a separate hurdle.
According to the report, the Raiders are determined to keep their No. 6 overall pick, which could complicate trade discussions. If Las Vegas refuses to include the pick in a deal, their chances of acquiring Stafford may diminish, regardless of their contract discussions with him.
Meanwhile, Stafford staying with the Rams remains a possibility. The fact that the Raiders have had positive talks with the veteran quarterback could also lead to Stafford and the Rams renegotiating their own terms. However, by granting Stafford permission to explore options with other teams, the Rams have signaled a willingness to consider moving on.
For now, the discussions between Stafford and the Raiders appear promising, but a final deal hinges on whether the Rams and Raiders can align on trade terms.
