Breaking: Tennessee Titans Officially Bringing Back Former Fans Favorite Superstar QB To Shape Squad

Titans Weighing Return of Veteran Quarterback, Says GM

The Tennessee Titans currently have only one quarterback under contract for the upcoming season—Will Levis. However, that is expected to change in the coming months. While the team could select a quarterback with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, they may also explore free agency for additional options. Another possibility is keeping the same quarterback group from last season, despite its struggles.

Levis began the 2024 season as the Titans’ starter but was later benched in favor of veteran Mason Rudolph. Unfortunately, Rudolph had a tough time leading the offense, finishing with a 1-4 record as a starter. Despite his struggles, the Titans have not ruled out bringing him back for another season. New general manager Mike Borgonzi acknowledged that Rudolph remains in the mix when discussing the team’s quarterback plans at the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine.

“Mason is certainly under consideration,” Borgonzi said, via TennesseeTitans.com. “He was a really solid player for us, and the backup quarterback position is an important one. He helped manage the room and performed when called upon. I was pleased with Mason’s contributions, and I would welcome him back if it’s the right fit.”

Rudolph, who previously played for the Pittsburgh Steelers, joined the Titans in 2024 as a backup but was eventually given the starting role. While he did not perform at a high level, he proved to be a competent backup, which could make him a viable option for Tennessee’s depth chart.

It is unlikely that the Titans would bring Rudolph back with the intention of making him the starting quarterback, but he could serve as a reliable second option behind whoever wins the job. Whether that ends up being Levis, a high draft pick, or a free-agent signing remains to be seen.

With Tennessee considering all options at quarterback, the decision on Rudolph’s future will depend on how the team shapes its roster in the coming weeks. If the Titans prioritize adding experience and stability to their quarterback room, bringing Rudolph back could make sense. However, they may ultimately decide to go in a different direction as they build for the future.
