Indiana Fever’s to Sit Out 2025 WNBA Season
The Indiana Fever will be without guard Kristy Wallace for the 2025 season, as she has decided to sit out the upcoming campaign.
The Fever have been active this WNBA offseason, making several roster moves to improve their team. While new additions are set to join Indiana, key returning players such as Caitlin Clark, Aliyah Boston, Kelsey Mitchell, Lexie Hull, and Damiris Dantas were expected to be central to the team’s success in 2025. Wallace, an Australian native who was part of the Fever’s 2024 roster, was also expected to return but has opted to step away from the game.
On February 25, the team announced Wallace’s decision, including a statement from her in a press release. “This has not been an easy decision for me, but one that I make knowing it is what is in my best interest at this time,” Wallace said. “I would like to thank the Fever organization for working with me throughout this process, giving me both time and consideration, and for their support of my decision. I look forward to cheering the team on from afar during this upcoming season.”
The reason for Wallace’s decision has not been disclosed. However, the team confirmed that her contract will be suspended for the 2025 season, meaning she will not be eligible to return at any point. Despite her absence, the Fever will retain her rights for potential future seasons.
Wallace played in 26 games for Indiana in 2024, averaging 4.7 points and 1.8 rebounds per game. While her absence removes a familiar piece from the lineup, the Fever’s recent roster additions suggest they will have the depth to adjust without major setbacks.
