Indiana Fever Forward Kristy Wallace to Sit Out 2025 Season
The Indiana Fever have been active this offseason, making several key roster moves. Stephanie White replaced Christie Sides as head coach, and the team brought in forwards DeWanna Bonner and Natasha Howard, along with shooting guard Sophie Cunningham. Additionally, they signed former Chicago Sky forward Brianna Turner, a move that received mixed reactions from fans.
On Tuesday, the Fever announced significant news regarding veteran forward Kristy Wallace. According to the team’s official statement, Wallace has chosen to sit out the 2025 WNBA season. “Indiana Fever forward Kristy Wallace announced today that she will not play during the 2025 WNBA season, electing to sit out the year. As a result, Wallace’s contract will be suspended and she will not be eligible to return during the 2025 season, with the Fever retaining her rights,” the statement read.
Following the announcement, Wallace issued her own statement, explaining her decision. “This has not been an easy decision for me, but one that I make knowing it is what is in my best interest at this time,” Wallace said. “I would like to thank the Fever organization for working with me throughout this process, giving me both time and consideration, and for their support of my decision.”
Wallace, 29, hails from Australia and was a second-round pick by the Atlanta Dream in the 2018 WNBA Draft. Her career has been impacted by multiple knee injuries, including an ACL tear suffered during her senior year at Baylor. After spending time playing professionally in Australia’s WNBL, she made her WNBA debut with the Dream in 2022 before joining the Fever in 2023.
During the 2024 season, Wallace appeared in 26 games, starting 15, and averaged 4.7 points per game. She also represented Australia in the 2024 Summer Olympics. With Wallace stepping away for the upcoming season, the Fever will continue building their roster in preparation for 2025.
