ESPN REPORT: New Orleans Saints Top Experienced Fan Favorite Officially Confirm He Wants To Leave

Saints Veteran  Addresses Potential Departure from New Orleans

The New Orleans Saints may undergo significant roster changes in 2025, and one key player could be on the move.

With the team currently well over the salary cap, New Orleans will have to make difficult financial decisions this offseason. This could involve restructuring contracts or letting go of certain players, including those set to hit free agency.

One such player is tight end Juwan Johnson, a five-year NFL veteran who is expected to test the open market. The 28-year-old had his best season yet in 2024, setting career highs with 50 receptions and 548 receiving yards. His role in the Saints’ offense was crucial, but it remains unclear whether the team will bring him back.

Johnson recently addressed his upcoming free agency and even hinted at a possible reunion with former Saints head coach Sean Payton, who now leads the Denver Broncos. Speaking with 9 News’ Mike Klis, Johnson reflected on his growth and what he seeks in his next opportunity.

“Johnson developed into one of the league’s best receiving tight ends after Payton left, recording 42, 37, and 50 catches over the past three seasons for a total of 1,424 yards and 14 touchdowns,” Klis reported.

Regarding his future, Johnson expressed an open-minded approach:

“I just want to be somewhere where I’m wanted and valued, and that’s my biggest thing,” Johnson said. “If it happens to be Denver, then it will be Denver. If it’s somewhere else, then it’s somewhere else.”

With free agency approaching in March, Johnson will be a player to watch as he evaluates his next move.
