Latest Ohio News: 5-Star Ohio State Commit Flip Commitment To Miami Hurricanes

Five-star wide receiver Chris Henry Jr., an Ohio State commit, has scheduled an official visit to Miami, marking a significant opportunity for the Hurricanes and head coach Mario Cristobal. According to Hayes Fawcett of On3, Henry Jr. will visit Miami from May 30 to June 1. The highly touted recruit is ranked as the No. 6 overall prospect, No. 2 WR, and the top player in California for the 2026 class per the On3 Industry Rankings.

In addition to Miami, Henry Jr. has official visits planned for USC (June 6-8), Oregon (June 13-15), and Ohio State (June 20-22). While he previously made an unofficial visit to Miami in June 2022, he has also visited Ohio State six times, USC four times, and Oregon four times.

On3 currently projects Ohio State as the frontrunner to sign Henry Jr. with a 30.8% chance, while West Virginia, despite not securing an official visit, is second at 18.2%. With Miami, Ohio State, Oregon, and USC securing official visits, West Virginia’s chances of landing Henry Jr. appear slim.

Henry Jr. initially received a 247Sports crystal ball prediction to Ohio State in November 2022 before officially committing to the Buckeyes on July 28, 2023. Ohio State wide receivers coach Brian Hartline, who served as co-offensive coordinator in 2024, will return to leading the offense in 2025.

The son of former Cincinnati Bengals WR Chris Henry, Henry Jr. transferred to Mater Dei in 2024 after previously playing for Cincinnati Withrow and West Clermont High School. At West Clermont, he recorded 29 catches for 292 yards and five touchdowns while also making an impact on defense. As a sophomore at Withrow in 2022, he set a school record with 1,127 receiving yards on 71 catches with 10 touchdowns.

Miami currently holds the 13th-ranked 2026 recruiting class and sits second in the ACC. The Hurricanes have secured commitments from four-star prospects, including linebacker Jordan Campbell, quarterback Dereon Coleman, and legacy cornerback Camdin Portis.
