The Green Bay Packers could be looking to make a key addition this offseason, and one potential target has been identified as New York Jets free agent running back Dalvin Cook. The Packers are expected to address the running back position, and Cook has been mentioned as a possible fit for the team.

Cook, a four-time Pro Bowler, signed with the Jets ahead of the 2023 season but saw minimal usage in New York’s struggling offense. While his production dipped in 2023, Cook still has the ability to contribute as a complementary piece in a strong offensive system.
At his peak, Cook was one of the most dynamic backs in the NFL during his tenure with the Minnesota Vikings. He posted four consecutive 1,000-yard rushing seasons from 2019 to 2022 and was a focal point of Minnesota’s offense. His experience playing in the NFC North could make Green Bay an appealing destination, particularly if the Packers are looking for a veteran presence to balance their offense.
The Packers’ offense, led by quarterback Jordan Love, showed promise in 2023, but adding another playmaker to the running back room could take pressure off Love and help create a more balanced attack. Cook’s versatility as a runner and pass-catcher would give Green Bay another weapon to work with, especially in a system that values dynamic playmakers out of the backfield.
While Cook’s best years may be behind him, he could provide the Packers with a reliable veteran option at an affordable price. If Green Bay is looking for a short-term solution while developing younger backs, signing Cook could be a move that helps the team remain competitive in the NFC.
