The Indiana Fever have officially announced the departures of forward Katie Lou Samuelson and guard Erica Wheeler, both of whom declined new contract offers.
Samuelson and the Fever mutually agreed to part ways, resulting in a contract buyout. She was set to earn approximately $180,000 for the 2025 season, but the buyout, reportedly around $106,419, allows her to explore other opportunities while impacting the Fever’s salary cap.
Wheeler, a 33-year-old veteran guard, has signed with the Seattle Storm. She announced her decision on PlayersTV’s “Easy Buckets” show and expressed her excitement on Twitter, emphasizing her commitment to hard work.
In Seattle, Wheeler is expected to contribute as a point guard and enhance the team’s bench depth.
In response to these departures, the Fever have made several roster moves to strengthen their lineup. They have signed veterans DeWanna Bonner, Natasha Howard, and Sydney Colson, aiming to bolster the team’s experience and leadership.
These changes reflect the Fever’s strategic efforts to reshape their roster and build a competitive team for the upcoming season.
