Breaking: 5-Star Quarterback recruit Decommits from Wisconsin’s

Quarterback Recruit Jarin Mock Decommits from Wisconsin’s 2026 Class

Three-star quarterback Jarin Mock announced Tuesday that he has decommitted from Wisconsin’s 2026 recruiting class.

“After a brief conversation with Wisconsin, they are no longer honoring my commitment,” Mock shared on X. “With that being said, my recruitment is 100% open.”

Mock originally committed to Wisconsin in July, choosing the Badgers over Central Michigan, Marshall, UMass, and Miami (Ohio). His decision came when Phil Longo was leading the offense, but a major shakeup in the coaching staff and quarterback room has since altered the program’s direction.

Wisconsin fired Longo on Nov. 17 following a 16-13 loss to No. 1 Oregon, which dropped the team to 5-5. At the time, the Badgers’ offense ranked 91st in total yards (363.1 per game) and 98th in scoring (23.9 points per game).

Following the season, Wisconsin saw major turnover at quarterback. Tyler Van Dyke, Braedyn Locke, and Mabrey Mettauer all transferred, with Mettauer reuniting with Longo at Sam Houston State. Wisconsin then hired Jeff Grimes as offensive coordinator and added transfer quarterbacks Danny O’Neil and Billy Edwards Jr.

In the 2025 class, Wisconsin secured top-ranked quarterback Carter Smith but lost three-star Landyn Locke, who, like Mettauer, opted to join Longo at Sam Houston State. With every quarterback Longo brought in now playing elsewhere, Mock’s departure was unsurprising.

Mock, ranked No. 535 overall in the 2026 class by 247Sports, is also the No. 40 quarterback and No. 24 prospect from Ohio. As the 2026 recruiting cycle picks up, he will explore other options.

Currently, Wisconsin’s 2026 class includes just one commit—three-star offensive lineman Benjamin Novak. The Badgers’ recruiting efforts will become a focal point following spring practices in April.
