The Kansas City Chiefs have re-signed veteran quarterback Chris Oladokun to a reserves/futures deal, ensuring additional depth behind starter Patrick Mahomes.
Originally a seventh-round pick by the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2022, Oladokun has been with the Chiefs since that same year, primarily serving as the team’s scout team quarterback. Though he has seen limited regular-season action, he has been a key contributor in practice, helping the defense prepare for opposing quarterbacks. Head coach Andy Reid previously praised Oladokun for his role in mimicking Lamar Jackson ahead of the Chiefs’ 2023 AFC Championship win over the Baltimore Ravens.
Despite minimal playing time—his only regular-season appearance came in a finale against the Denver Broncos, where he did not attempt a pass—Oladokun has been part of two Super Bowl-winning rosters with Kansas City.
With backup quarterback Carson Wentz set to hit free agency, Oladokun may have an opportunity to compete for a backup role heading into the 2025 season. While his exact role remains uncertain, the Chiefs’ decision to bring him back signals their desire to keep him in the organization.
