JUCO Guard Abdul Bashir Commits to Auburn

Auburn basketball has secured a commitment from JUCO guard Abdul Bashir following his official visit last weekend.

The Tigers continue to bolster their roster, landing the 6-foot-7 combo guard from Casper College in Wyoming. Bashir, who considered Nebraska, Texas A&M, Kansas State, Seton Hall, and others, ultimately chose Auburn.

Bashir has been a standout performer at the JUCO level, averaging 25.3 points per game while shooting over 42% from the field and 37% from three-point range. He attempts 19 shots per game, including 10 from beyond the arc, and contributes more than three rebounds and three assists per contest.

With Bashir’s commitment, Auburn now has four recruits in its 2025 class, joining four-star prospects Sebastian Williams-Adams, Kaden Magwood, and Simon Walker. The Tigers’ recruiting class currently ranks No. 16 in the 247Sports team rankings for 2025.

Bashir’s brother, Abdi Bashir Jr., played against Auburn earlier this season as a member of Monmouth, scoring 15 points. He is currently averaging over 20 points per game for the Hawks as a sophomore.

Having spent two seasons at Casper College, Abdul Bashir retains two or three years of eligibility, depending on the outcome of ongoing JUCO eligibility rulings following the Diego Pavia lawsuit. Auburn’s roster for next season remains uncertain, with the potential return of Chad Baker-Mazara and Denver Jones contingent on these rulings. Additionally, a Division II lawsuit could impact Chaney Johnson’s eligibility. At this point, Tahaad Pettiford and Jahki Howard are the only players guaranteed to return next season.

Bashir has delivered two explosive 40-point performances this season, including a 47-point game against Miles Community College in December, where he shot 18-of-36 from the field and 8-of-19 from three. He also dropped 45 points against North Idaho College, going 15-of-27 from the floor and 6-of-12 from deep.
