Done Deal: Just In Highly Rated 2025 RB Officially Commits To Auburn football Over Alabama And Michigan

Auburn football secured a key commitment following a successful recruiting weekend. The Tigers hosted more than 30 recruits for a major Junior Day event, aiming to land several top prospects.

One of the weekend’s biggest takeaways was the commitment of Auburn native Omar Mabson, a running back who recently reclassified from the 2026 class to 2025. Mabson took an official visit to Auburn after previously visiting Alabama. His strong relationship with head coach Hugh Freeze and offensive coordinator Derrick Nix, who visited both his home and Auburn High School, played a key role in his decision. Following his visit, Mabson officially announced his commitment to Auburn on Monday morning via social media.

During his junior season at Auburn High School, Mabson totaled 1,515 rushing yards and 29 touchdowns, averaging 8.2 yards per carry. After his standout season, he opted to reclassify to the 2025 class, feeling prepared to take the next step in his football career. Although he will remain in his hometown, Mabson is approaching his college career with a professional mindset.

“It feels good, but I’m not going to be at the house, though,” Mabson told Auburn Live. “I’m going to treat it like I’m out in California or somewhere. I’m going to college to play football and pursue the NFL. I’m very excited. I’m ready to compete. War Eagle!”

With his commitment, Mabson becomes the 26th high school signee and the 42nd overall player in Auburn’s 2025 recruiting class.
