Good News: Just In Top Veteran WNBA Superstar Officially Join Indiana Fever After Rejecting Chicago Sky And Lynx

The Indiana Fever have officially signed veteran guard, the team announced. Colson, a free agent, joins the Fever after spending the past three seasons with the Las Vegas Aces, where she played a key role in the team’s back-to-back WNBA championships in 2022 and 2023.

Fever COO and General Manager Amber Cox praised Colson’s experience and leadership, emphasizing her ability to contribute in crucial moments. “Sydney is a proven veteran in our league and throughout her career, delivered for her teams in many big moments,” Cox said. “She brings a championship pedigree to the Fever, adding depth to our point guard position. We have the utmost confidence in her ability to step into any situation and deliver on both ends of the floor.”

Colson expressed enthusiasm about joining Indiana, noting her familiarity with several players and coaches on the team. “I am very excited for this new opportunity with Indiana,” Colson said. “I know several players and coaches from the Fever, and I trust what I know about them. I’m excited to be a part of the vision that the staff has for this team, and I’m ready to get to work.”

Originally drafted by the Connecticut Sun in 2011 before being traded to the New York Liberty, Colson made an immediate impact by helping the Liberty reach the playoffs in her rookie season. Over the years, she has appeared in the postseason five more times—four with Las Vegas and one with the Chicago Sky.

A Houston, Texas, native and Texas A&M University alum, Colson has averaged 2.8 points per game in her career while shooting 40.4 percent from the field, along with 1.6 assists and 0.6 steals per game. She recorded a career-high shooting percentage of 44.4 percent during the Aces’ 2023 championship run.

Colson also has strong ties to Indianapolis, as she led Texas A&M to the 2011 NCAA Championship, which was won at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, the Fever’s home arena. Now, she returns to the city with the hopes of bringing her championship experience and leadership to Indiana’s roster.
