Virginia Tech Still Pursuing Former Quarterback Commit
Virginia Tech offensive coordinator Tyler Bowen recently visited quarterback Peyton Falzone, who de-committed from the Hokies in November. Falzone, a highly regarded four-star prospect from Nazareth, Pa., was the first commitment in Virginia Tech’s 2026 recruiting class when he pledged to the program last June. However, five months later, he decided to reopen his recruitment, dealing a setback to head coach Brent Pry and his staff.
Despite Falzone stepping away from his commitment, communication between him and Virginia Tech remains ongoing. On Tuesday, he shared on social media that Bowen had stopped by for a visit, signaling that the Hokies are still in the mix. Since de-committing, Falzone has drawn interest from numerous top programs and has made visits to schools like Ohio State and Penn State.
Meanwhile, Virginia Tech secured a commitment earlier this month from wide receiver Cameron Sparks from Chattanooga, Tenn., their lone pledge in the 2026 class so far. Recruiting efforts for this class are expected to pick up in the coming months.
At quarterback, Virginia Tech will bring in A.J. Brand from South Carolina and Kelden Ryan from Texas as part of the 2025 class. They will join returning quarterbacks Kyron Drones, Pop Watson, and Davi Belfort, giving the Hokies a deep group at the position.
Falzone’s dual-threat abilities make him an ideal fit for Virginia Tech’s offense. While it remains uncertain whether he will reconsider the Hokies, the coaching staff has not given up hope. With major programs vying for his commitment, it will be interesting to see how his recruitment unfolds. One thing is certain—Virginia Tech is making every effort to bring him back into the fold.
