Breaking: Auburn gets late 2025 commitment from Top Talented Fans Favorite Superstar

Auburn Lands Late 2025 Commitment from Auburn High RB

Running back Omar Mabson has decided to stay close to home, committing to Auburn University after reclassifying from the 2026 class to 2025. The Auburn High standout, now part of Auburn’s 2025 recruiting class, is listed at 5-foot-9 and 200 pounds. According to 247Sports, he ranks as the No. 85 running back nationally and the No. 37 prospect in Alabama.

Mabson made his decision following an official visit to Auburn during the program’s major Junior Day event. He had the opportunity to build strong connections with head coach Hugh Freeze and offensive coordinator/running backs coach Derrick Nix, further solidifying his choice after an in-home visit in January.

“Everything about Auburn just felt right,” Mabson said. “It’s home, the coaches, the relationships—everything. But I’m treating it like I’m going away for college, focusing on football and working toward the NFL. I can’t worry about being close to home; I just have to focus on college.”

Several programs, including Alabama, North Carolina, and Vanderbilt, pursued Mabson for the 2025 class. He had already amassed an impressive offer list as a 2026 prospect. Over the last two seasons at the 7A level, he rushed for 2,798 yards and 45 touchdowns while also recording 21 receptions for 280 yards and three scores.

Mabson becomes Auburn’s 26th high school recruit in the 2025 class and the second running back, joining four-star Alvin Henderson. The Tigers’ running back room next season will feature senior Damari Alston, junior Jeremiah Cobb, redshirt sophomore Durell Robinson, and the incoming freshmen duo of Mabson and Henderson.

Reflecting on Auburn’s recruiting approach, Mabson expressed appreciation for the staff’s dedication. “The coaches made me feel like a top priority,” he said. “They visited my home and my school, showing me real love.”

Now eager to take the next step in his football career, Mabson is ready for the challenge ahead. “I’m very excited and ready to compete,” he said. “War Eagle.”
